Cp Piston ring guidance on Sleeved H22!!!
I am installing some Cp pistons on a sleeved H22 that's going turbo... its website I suggested that I got with a .024 -.022 top ring clearnce.... now this is aftef checking now is this normal for me to go filing these frigging rings now to open the gap on the rings?!?! I thought I woul want it tighther for blow back?
Yes, you want to open them up according to your power needs since the ring gap is effected by thermal expansion.
If you don't have the proper gap, they will expand, touch each other, then in turn create friction on your cylinder walls. Go by the multiplication numbers CP recommends on your piston documentation sheet.

Rodger doger... I was reading up on it... the Rings look lie they were shipped close ot a street build.... I says to open them up .022 to .027 so i was kinda worried bout the range... so I went to the website to verify... Now i gotta find a friggin piston ring gapper?!?! orilleys nor autozone had nothing to help will try sears or get at them with my dremel..
Sorry gentle man and ladies if any.... Again I need somethign from this site... wow...
anyways I need to know where I should be setting these ringsin the cylinder for gapping top or bottom etc...

i put the ring in the bore and then pushed the ring down with the piston until the bottom of the skirt is flush with the top of the bore. helps if the rod is attached to the piston. make sure the bore is clean and lubricated with wd40, well that's what i use anyway.

Put a ring in the 2nd ring slot on the piston and use that as a piston stopper when dropping the ring in the bore. That prevents the ring from sitting in the cylinder crooked; having a ring crooked in the cylinder will give you an inaccurate gap.
