Some questions for the pros
Hey guys, a few questions for you. I have been considering some modifications to my car. JDM 4-1, testpipe, cat back exaust, and a Comptech Ice box. My questions are as follows. Do I need a cat back exaust? My logic is that the header is 2.5, the testpipe will be 2.5, and the factory exaust is 2.25 I think, so I wil get an cat back exaust that is 2.5. Will this help me? Am I going to notice a difference performance wise? I just dont know if an aftermarket exaust is worth it. I am considering a Comptech system because I want a quiet, nice tone not too annoying. If I do all of these mods, is there a big difference? This is a lot of money to spend and I just want to make sure I wont be dissapointed. Any input would be appricated.
I guess your level of happiness / desappointment depends on what you are hoping for.
Personnally, if these are the only modifications you will do to the car, I would keep the stock cat-back and only remove (or have remove) the bottleneck at the catalytic converter connection. I don't think a 2.5" cat back will yield substantial HP on the stock engine compare to the money invested. Maybe 5 or 6 hp.
Edit: Oh and in regards to the title, I don't think I am a pro. Just an average amateur who wishes he could win the lotory and starts racing just for the fun of it.

You dont need an aftermarket exhuast but I would assume you would want to free up the air flow coming from the aftermarket intake and header. Dont expect a 30HP increase but you will notice a difference. I would get a 2.5" piping for the exhaust but 2.25" shoud do fine. I would recommend Comptech to anyone.
