i've been tossin this idea around since i bought my car 2 years ago and i still can't decide what i think will look better so i'll ask you guys

heres a pic of my car from last summer, the sir lip is gone, and i'm gettin a mugen, also the windows are now tinted .. so should i keep my sides black? or paint em white

 

Paint them and the mugen lip both.

 

Why get rid of the SIR lip for a bigger, uglier mugen lip?

96-98 mugen front lip with stock sideskirts is gonna look dumb. i think you need the whole package to pull of that look.

 

agreed. if you go with the 96-98 lip....your going to have go with the whole kit....and seeing that they don't make it for the coupe....that might be hard to do

i wanted to get the mugen because i originally was gunna paint match everything .. the lip and the sideskirts.. i think it looks a lot more cleaner and complete

but i look at my car everyday the way it is now .. w/ just black sideskirts and no lip and i kind of like it.. so now i confused myself

 

get some ctr thin side moldings and colormatch them along with the sideskirts

Yeah, the thin siding moldings look real good, but I'd paint match the whole car except the side moldings.

 

I like the painted look myself. Since your front lip is black, you can get away with it though. I just feel like the painted side skirt is a cleaner look.

 

color match them.

 

get mud flaps that will solve all your problems

i thought of that.. i actually think that would look awesome. i'll have to get an updated picture of my car b/c it doesnt have that sir lip anymore .. and the windows are BLACK

 

A tip my friend told me was that painted side skirts make your car seem lower because they're more noticeable that way.

 

Painted sides look best on white too. Tint shouldn't matter.

 

Cause the mugen lip will look amazing. paint em white!

yea i definately agree with that, once my car got tinted, the first thing i told myself was i gotta get the sideskirts painted

i'd love to see some pics of cars w/ everything painted except teh side moldings

 

But arent your side moldings already white? If not I say paint everything white. But Ive not seen any pics of cars with painted sideskirts but black moldings. Dont most of them come stock the opposite way that your looking for?

Which mugen lip are you getting? Some of them sit real flush but the small lips sit real bulky like. If your getting the full bumper mugen lip (the one twice as big, with no slits) then id say matching EVERYTHING white will look good with the tint and black around the windows. But if your getting the smaller mugen STYLE lip with the slits and keeping the same black lip style then I say go black because the lips gonna be more eye drawing cause the mugen STYLE lip is bulkier, so attention away from that would look good. but if the mugen lip is gonna be the white small one, or the half bumper size then I say go white white white. Itll give less for the eyes to look at which i find really pleasing on civics.

 

i'm not sure what one it is .. jdmshit says its the mugen front bumper .. so thats what i'm getting, i know what you mean about how some of them sit high on the ends.. i'm making sure mine is perfect and doenst look like that.

and to answer ur question about the side moldings .. yea usually ppl get everything painted or have black sideskirts and black moldings .. BUT i have seen a few cars that i can remember had the sideskirts painted .. but had black side moldings.. i rmemeber it looking good at the time .. but i'd like to see some new pics to refresh my memory

 

Damn. The guy I wanted to get the real nice mugen bumper from doesnt have anymore.

Which one are you looking at?
The lip


or the "full" bumper lip


I like the full one a lot more because its so much more flush. But I dont like the slits like the spoon lip. If I wanted the slits Id get a spoon lip but to me, those mugen STYLE lips look exactly like the spoon STYLE lips. But the real ones look nothing alike haha.


I used to only like the full one, but now looking at the first one its not too bad at all. I think its just jdmshits 98 mugen lip that makes it look HUGE because its white on a darker color.
