Bondo (Miata) and Engine Swap (Civic)
So I spent most of the weekend between 2 garages.
Mine -- The Miata needed some body work before being painted madd skillz yellow. So after having someone (Thanks Ron) explain Bondo to me last Monday, I spent much of the weeknights and about 1/3 of the weekend in the garage making the thing acceptably straight for painting. It went to Maaco this morning.
Ron's -- Ron has a Civic Si he's building for the ECHC. The body is a tad bent from an encounter with a bush (previous owner). So he found another body last week and commenced to swapping the engine/suspension the over this weekend. Well, I was tired of Bondo-ing on my car, so dropped by to see what he was up to and ended up helping (in the small ways I could) with the engine swap. I thought this was big fun and I sure learned a lot. I still have grease under my nails though... one of these days I'm going to learn to wear gloves.

You want to learn about cars? Wait until Cape Fear Motorsports opens up! I will have all kinds of things I can teach you how to do - like install gears in Mustang and Camaro rear ends. You'll LOVE it!
Drew - Who will NEVER EVER set up a rear end unless he is getting paid ADEQUATELY for the job . . .

Let me tell you, Gojo Orange with the little blue brush works WONDERS at getting rid of that under-nail grease. I always forget my gloves too.
Sounds like a fun weekend, is the miata going to be the REAL Madd-Skillz (Phoenix) yellow, or is it another shade? If it's authentic MSY, you do realize you're going to have to put Type-R stickers on the car, right?

How is it that yellow gets the rap for being "Mad Skillz"?
The car looks real good in yellow. There's too many red and silver yattas running out at Portland...
Greg - who's tired of stating his car is painted 97 Corvette Daytona yellow, dammit.

Three factors contributed to the whole "mAd sKiLlZ yElLoW" thing:
1) Type-R owners ALWAYS list the color of their car in their signatures. The implication to us was that the color made a difference. With that in mind we move to factor 2:
2) Yellow is the color of speed. I don't remember what website said that (perhaps Bryan's Riceboy Page) but it was implying that you will be fast if you paint parts of your car yellow.
3) The thrid factor is the fact that ricers have mad skillz AND drool over ITRs - preferrably the yellow ones.
I could be wrong but that is where the connection came from IMO.

Well damn Drew... I thought (2) was going to work for me... I won't be faster if it's yellow???
So I'm curious... I know what PY is... what the hell is FBP??? Flat Black Paint?

tyme to flame.
it does... black sucks and white = 97-98 only.
but what if I didn't paint my car and 'am' fast?
who is this bryan fella?
that may be the main/only reason.
Will
-who hates black and would rather have a red ITR... but lives in the wrong place for that.

John -- who likes taunting Greg about the color of his car, but in the end, knows it's actually pretty darn cool
H4 I believe. At least I hope so since that's the class I'm making him numbers for.
I mean, I am getting tired of kicking everyone's ***.
(Totally kidding.)
Ain't FBP Flamenco Black Pearl? or is it Nighthawk Black Pearl? I dunno, I misidentified it once and had someone yammer at me for about 20 minutes about. I think I'll just call it Black.
Edit: Nice one, Brinson!
