Well for those that didn't, the story came mostly from their message boards, and the original post had a huge response, seems everyone has ideas about what they would buy/build racecar wise with $5K, $10K, or $15K. I was curious what the people here would do. Could $10K get you racing in ECHC? $15K could, right? (Sorry if a topic like this has been posted before)

 

What was their idea for 5k?

$11,500 would get you racing in ECHC in a Honda Civic Si I have for sale with plenty of spares, $2500 in extra wheels and tires and a fresh rebuild READY TO RACE TODAY/TOMORROW etc.

Exactly, if I was to get a race ready car for around 10, either that SS Civic or GSR would be mine...

 

For autocross I think they picked an 85-87 Civic/Crx for 5K
For road racing I think it was building or buying a GTI Cup car.

makes you realized how much debt you are really in, and how far away a project car really is.

 

I was really surprised they picked the C4 instead of an FD RX-7.
