Default ecu upgrade

wondering what people are using for ecu upgrades and where to get them..? my buddy has an 01 gsr with an intake/header and running the stock muffler i beleive, i think an ecu mod would be fair for him to go with next so i was tryin to help him out a lil. any help would be greatly appreaciated thanks!

OBDII ECUs are difficult to chip. Most people switch to OBDI and custom tune the ECU for the car.

Honestly, the only time you should consider chipping the stock ecu is when you replace the manifold. The reason is because you'll be going with a single runner setup which won't have the secondary butterflies. So you'd have to have your vtec engagement set higher.

Aside from that, it's pretty pointless to chip an ecu that only has basic bolt ons.
