Default 96 Accord misfire problem.

96 Accord LX. Car is misfiring. It is throwing a code 74. I check all four spark plug, No. 1 and No. 4 had a bit of oil on them. No. 2 and No. 3 had a lot of oil on them; so much where it was dripping when I pulled them out. All four plugs was loose. I did a compression test. No. 1 185, No. 2 190, No. 3 185, No. 4 175. All seems like it's holding a compression. How long should I leave it there to make sure there is no compression lost? I left mine there for about 30 seconds. What should I do or check now.

have you reset the ECU and tried running the engine again since you tightened the spark plugs?
On your car [OBD2] it is really better to get the Real code with a scan tool.
Have the spark plugs ever been replaced?
Valve adjustment?

mine was misfiring too i swapped out the spark plug wires and it fixed it. about the oil take off the valve cover and check the little gaskets around the holes for the spark plug wires, they become dry rootted sometimes and oil leaks through. gl

you're getting oil on your plugs b/c you have to replace your rocker arm O-rings. Those are probably TOAST. I just did this on my 93 accord. Since oil is in there, its causing the engine to misfire from not getting enough spark on the plugs, or none at all. Be sure to do a valve adjusment right afterward.

on an lx accord is it true that it has an upper and lower seal for the spark plug tube?

the upper is where the valve cover is, easy fix, but how do i change the lower one?

for the lower one you have to remove the rocker arm.
