question on why my motor wont start!!
well...my friends crx is down right now,it was a hf motor in it,then we swaped it out for a si, but it was runing very strong and really fast. but now it wont even start, we have checked anything of everything, timing, and what now. but when we jump start it almost goes,but its like the motor doesnt want to start, then when we bump start it it runs for a spilt sec. so..does anyone know what the heck is wrong with the car? because we cant figure it out.
My car is increasingly having a hard time starting too..
The starter works, because I can see my cam gear go around.
It makes all the familiar noises when starting the car, but it just doesn't want to start.
If I keep on trying to start it, eventually it might start. After its started the motor keeps on running without problems.
I noticed that when it has a hard time starting, the engine check light is on, and the time when it was about to start, the engine check light wasn't on and it kind of sounded like the engine was turning faster for 2 seconds before it actually started.. Couldn't get it started today though..
Oh yeah. When I when to check the valve clearances, I realized that when I did the adjustment last weekend, I screwed up.. I made the exhaust 0.006 and the intake 0.009. Could that give it a hard time?
I was in the middle of re-adjusting the clearances today, but it started to rain around here. So I had to abandon my car work for tonight and start tomorrow morning.
Please don't tell me its my main relay because I heard it was a bitch to get to.

who ever told you that the main relay is a bitch to get to must have never done it before or attempted to look for it
you know where your hood pop is ? its right above that held on by a 10mm bolt on the side
heres a little hint or trick ...remove the coin tray and you should be able to pull it out from there with out any trouble ...you can also see it if you do this
if you believe it is your main relay...i would suggest buying a new one from autozone 57.99.....when you go in to ask them what you need do not tell them it is a main relay because they will give you the wrong item ....in their systems it will be called a "multi-purpose" relay

now if your a cheap bastard and like to do it the cheap way
go to the junk yard and pull this relay off of another crx or civic 88-91
they also come on 86-91 accords
86-88 preludes
and one other honda i dont remember off the top of my head
the only difference in these relays will be the mounting bracket but essentially they are the same relay

Figures.. Now my car has been starting up immediately after I turn the key.
The only thing different was that I corrected the timing and valve lash. We'll see if it starts to reoccur.
