Default Redlining daily

Okay, I must admit i do enjoy my type-s. I redline the engine just about every day just messin around. Could any serious issues come from being hard on the engine like this? Is it possible to bend valves reving only to 8.2k rpms?

Honda wouldn't set the redline higher than the engine could handle. You should check your valves periodically (~50,000 miles) anyways. Honda says 110,000 but my motor needs it at 90,000.

With a valve adjustment. I.E. Valve adjustment tool and a feeler gauge.

There are some methods in here on how to do it without the special valve adjustment tool: http://www.k-series.com/forum/...=7895

You're welcome.

I wouldn't say it's bad for it, but babying it will probably extend longevity.

Piston rings are usually abused the most with constant high rpm operation.

An engine does only have so many revolutions in it's life cycle, regardless of how they're achieved.

change the oil every 3k with good full synthetic stuff. Youll be fine. Id be worried more about the clutch/tranny dropping at those rpms than the motor.

Ehh, you can't think of it that way. 1 minute at 7k isn't the same as 10 at idle. Engines really don't have some ultimate "fate." When things go severely wrong there is usually a special condition/reason.

You mentioned the clutch and tranny... When i bought the car i got the trans fluid changed and i dont launch the car at high rpms, i usualy run from a roll. I just dont see how people can own a type s and not explore its full potential every once in a while.. EH HEmmm.. DAILY. lol
