Default JDM B16 powerless at 5000 rpms? What might the issue be?

Well I have a JDM B16 swap in my em1 and when Im driving and reach about 5000 rpm's, maybe 4800, the car feels like its powerless, v-tec kicks and its loud but the car feels like its not going anywhere. I know the car has the wrong ecu so Im switching that out. I also changed the spark plug wires and distributor cap and I put some NGK iridium plugs. When at idle its at about 1500 rpm's and it goes up and down, it will go to 1500 rpm's and drop to 1000 and then back up until it stabilizes. Could this all be due to the ecu? or lmk what you guys think might be the issue or what i should replace to start eliminating the possibilities. And like I said, this only happens at 4800 rpm's, below 4800 the car runs normal and the power is there...LMK!

Thanks In Advanced!

It has the obd2b P2T and everybody has told me that the proper ecu for a jdm b16 is the p72 in obd1...

people who told you that the proper ecu for ur jdm b16 is p72 are nuts. that's the ecu for a gsr. since ur obd2, your ecu that u are running now should be okay. what year is ur motor anyways, the correct ecu for a jdm b16 is a p30. about ur idling, it could be ur idle air control vavle or even ur throttle body that's messed up, or maybe lots of air leaks somewhere else. check all those first to see what happens.

Idk but your ecu you have in it right now isnt really safe, it is made for differ compression, injector size, one cam, different timing. you need to get the right ecu asap or get a tune with an obd1 ecu.

Well the weird thing is that is has a single cam intake manifold... could that also be an issue? Thats whack though, a shop here in el paso told me that because the swap is an obd1 swap it needs a p72... so the correct ecu is a p30? is it obd2 or obd1?

Probably the ecu, but could be something as simple as a broken/not hooked up knock sensor.

that one, it's the white plug on the third runner on your manifold(from the distributor going right)

His IAT is unplugged at the intake manifold but it looks like you have an OBD2 IAT in the short ram intake.

Swap looks like a hack, take it to a shop that knows what they are doing.
