What do you think of my Del Sol?
Heres my 93' Del Sol that I bought from my dad. I Used to have a good 'ol Toyota pickup but I wanted a car and he was selling his really cheap so I jumped on it. $3000 for it =D. Believe it or not my dad actually did everything to it I haven't touched a thing on it, but thats only because I have no money and I'm saving up for a k20a type-r swap into it. Going to college next year where theres a huge shop to work in and I'll have plenty of time to work on it
.
Just wanted to know what you guys think of it and if you've got any suggestions besides the engine swap. Right now I have a d15b7 in it and well...its slow =P. My dad threw some bolt ons in it but thats about it. Suggestions and opinions are welcome!
Also by the way, as you can probably see the left side of my front bumper is smashed up a bit due to my Mom of all people, BACKING UP into me....yeah it was really lame haha.

Honostly I've never really liked the hood, it just looks good for showing it off to people at school. As far as the front bumper, my stock one is all messed up right now so this one looks way better despite the little crunched up part.
One thing I've never understood though, lowering a car. Besides that you get the center of gravity a bit lower and scrap on speed bumps, is there any other advantage to it?

i wish bodykits would all just burn and disappear one night.
also for the lowering, hit up the suspension forum and then come back and ask that question.

That would look pretty nice with an OEM bumper and if you resprayed the side skirts and splash guards (bare polyurethane pieces).
The main problem with the front bumper is that for 1 it's absolutely humongous, and for 2 it's going to be more trouble than it's worth because it's fiberglass. But if learning body repair is on your to-do list, keep the bumper.

OEM bumper maybe the ef bumper if you wanna go for a different look but that front is..... ::threw up in mouth:: and the CF hood well i guess its alright for how but try and sell or maybe trade for a OEM style CF hood but hey for 3k i'd take it... i'd hide it from public view till i got ride of the bumper but good solid car it looks like
damn i wish i had money to drop a k20a into my civic but then again id probably just boost an ls/vtec
its a good platform to start with
just like everyone said lose the bumper
you should upgrade the braking and suspension too while ur doin the motor swap

mmk so I'm getting that the consensus is to lose the bumper haha. Yeah it is absolutely huge, I think I'll sell it to some kid at school after I fix it, and find something middle of the road cuz I really don't like the stock one either. CF hood wouldn't be hard to sell, get some easy money there too.
I'll look into the suspension stuff too. Thanks for you suggestions, keep em coming =D

I like the earlier front end like the one you have, but I'd replace the front bumper and hood with stock and then get some different wheels. A detail would really help your car look a lot better too. The paint is showing it's age right now.
sorry dude, but i dont like anything about it, down to the rims and ride height. sell that bumper and hood (if u can), sell that exhaust, lower it. And get rid of that steering wheel. other than that.... good luck.
as a side note, its a really bad idea to post pics of your car with license plates on it, and that numbers/letters visible.

Lol, the only "neon" item is the steering wheel cover =P. Anyways though, I was just casually talking to my dad about selling the hood and he's totally against me doing anything to the car. He's acting like its still his and doesn't want me to touch it he loves that hood blah blah blah you probably get the picture.
Oh what to do.....

Why would you suggest to put a fourth gen front bumper on a del Sol? Did you mean an "EG" (5th gen) front end? That's been done before and looks okay I suppose, but I still prefer stock myself.

Do you have the title?
Dad needs to get over it. He doesn't get to gain $3000 and no longer have to worry abotu the maintenance of a car... but still get to have all the fun with the car that he wants. It's not his anymore.
You're a 17-year-old driving a visually modified Honda. It's not the same as a 40-something-year-old driving the same thing. This begs for you to get negative attention from cops and street racers.
Oh, and your dad's a ricer.

"what do you think"
Well, I think it's kind of ugly and you paid too much. I've seen VTEC examples in better shape for a few hundred more, and for $3k or less I've seen very clean stock Si's.
Your old man didn't even hook you up with a deal?
