92-95 Civic Hatchback Si Front lower ball joint.. Help
Question: I wonder is it hard if I decided to install front left lower ball joint on my hatchback at the house without the proper ball joint presser? If I don't have the presser what are my choice if I am doing at the house.
What I did is place something up under the ball joint and lower the car down a little to put some weight on it and then take a hammer and tap\hit around the balljoint on the lower control arm untill it is all the way in. thats it.

U don't need the presser. Soak with WD-40 or some sort of other liquid penetrant and then hammer the SIDE of the lower control arm where the ball joint attaches to cause vibrations. The vibrations will eventually knock the ball joint loose and out.

A BFH!

I can take the old ball joint out easily, but putting the new one in is the tricky part. I need advice on that. The only reason I said that is because when I did it on my GSR at the shop. It took me a minute to press the new one on. Can I use like assembly lube or grease to lube it to hammer it back it? If so how hard it would be to do it?

I dont know if you've replaced them or not yet, but I replaced both of my lowers recently. If you use a hammer please be careful, the ball joints can be damaged easily. If you have a bench vise in you're garage you can try my method. I removed the control arm from the car and used the vise and a large impact socket to ease the joint in. It is much easier to get it in straight with a nice tight fit this way. No lube was necessary.
