poor mans type r tuning in obd0
hey i have a 91 si still obd0, my poor mans type r setup is like 11.4 cr and im running a obd0 b16 ecu. for tuning purposes can i break in the motor and drive it for a little bit and not push it and have no problems on a stock tune.
if not then what about running a vafcII, im thinking i need to get a wideband o2 sensor because the stock o2 sensors only read from like 14 to 15 to 1 a/f and the a/f ratio might be leaner or richer than that because of my setup. will my tuning capability be too limited, running obd0 and narrow band o2, for my setup and the engine will not properly be broken in because of this?

sweet titty [freak]ing christ don't run a v-afc. Get crome or something of the like... please don't tune with that thing.
and a wideband o2 is a critical tuning tool. get one and get to work.

the correct way to run that engine would be to convert to obd1 and run crome.. no doubt about it..
here is a great article on why piggyback controllers suck..

i ran my poor mans type r in with a chipped obd0 b16 ecu forgot what chip though i also have a v-afc i worked in the motor with it and it's fine i rev to 9+ k daily and even take it past 10 k occasionally the motor has got about 35,000 miles on it have had no problems it's also got stage 3 buddy club cams and skunk 2 stainless valve, springs, retainers i just have a conservative tune on it right now just a little on the rich side the thing runs like a champ all i suggest is stay away from lean mixtures thats what blows motors
im only going to being using the vafc for like 2 weeks and that time i will be breaking the motor in so i wont be pushing it. i need a car to drive so i gotta do what i gotta do. what about the wideband o2 sensor. can i hook that up to my obd0 ecu? can i just get the sensor and wires and not the controller for it just hook it up to the vafc
