i want to get somethin in the range of 92 to 00 but my mind does not sit right with the cars im thinking of
the money isnt an issue but i wanna start like like maybe one of these options
93 eg

93 ek

00 civic

its almost like a project car can anyone help me chose a good first car and get back at me thank you

 

geo metro, why would you call a 93 an eg, then call another 93 an ek, then call the 00 a civic...... way off buddy. just get something thatll get you to point a to point b. a good project car is a crx, get a k20 since money isnt an issue, and drop it in, viola. fastest all motor car on your block/.

Your first car was an overseas SiR with a B16A in it?

The OP already seems confused by mentioning that he's interested in a '93 EG or a '93 EK or a '00 Civic. Let's not try to confuse him anymore.

The '92-'95 Civic is commonly called an "EG" (even though the only true EG chassis sold in the US are some del Sols and some sedans).

The '96-'00 Civics is commonly called an "EK" (even though there are no true EK chassis sold in the US).

So OP, what exactly are you looking into? Skip the chassis codes and just tell it to us straight.

I'd say that's a very bad idea.

You're asking if you want an overseas 1992-1995 Honda Civic SiR/VTi or a JDM 1997-2000 Honda Civic Type R.

You'd have to ship the car over here, make it legal and wait for it to get stolen.

OP, just buy a USDM '92-'95 Civic hatch (CX, DX, Si or VX) or a USDM '96-'00 Civic hatch (CX or DX).

In case you're still confused:

JDM = Japanese Domestic Market = Parts and cars made for original sale in Japan.

USDM = United States Domestic Market = Parts and cars made for original sale in United States.

EG6s and EK9s were never sold in the US. You might be thinking of EH3s ('92-'95 Si hatch) and EH2s ('92-'95 CX hatch, DX hatch, VX hatch) and EJ6s ('96-'00 Civic CX hatch, DX coupe and hatch and sedan, LX sedan).

JDM cars are very rare here and highly sought after by thieves. The cars you listed are not sold in the US and you have probably never seen them.

I can't tell if you're confused and want the US versions (which I just listed) or if you honestly think you can afford the price of an SiR or Type R and then $2,000+ more to ship it over here plus all the safety stuff you'd have to pay for to make it legal to drive here.

This is why people shouldn't use chassis codes if they don't understand what they mean.

I would suggest you buy a US car. They're plenty high enough stock to get over potholes and bumps. They're only so low because a lot of peopel put lowering kits on them.

yes yes i wanted to get the us version but put a few JDM parts on the car soo,

There's plenty of "JDM" parts for just about every Honda. It's what body style you like and your goals. Search around the "Group Threads" and see what type of cars you like after seeing a lot built up and so on. If you like 96-98 front ends go for that, 99-00 then go for that. Ect ect. It's all about your searching to see what you like best. There's JDM parts for all Honda's. GL

 

I would get the newer civic hatchback, (the 96-00) but the older one isn't bad either. (92-95)

 

i bought a 92 SI for my 1st car and loved every second of it. i personally belive that the 92-95 Hatch back is the best looking hatch on the planet. it all comes down to what YOU like. i chose a civic cause all the kids in my town own VW and i wanted to rep a different car. Another thing to look at is that when you break a part you can easily find anything online or even at a junk yard. there easy to fix and simple to modify. they are the perfect starting car man.

I would prefer the model with the most creature comforts (moonroof, power steering, a/c, cruise control, etc.). I would actually search for a '96-'00 DX hatchback with the optional power steering and a/c and then I'd strip the rest of it down and add almost as many stock power options as possible. I don't want or need the fastest car around. I just want a good daily driver.

Not that that would be what you want necessarily.

I think you should look elsewhere than just "JDM" parts. There is so much more out there besides popular parts.

I think you should buy the car that currently best suits your needs and then build on that. Your car, no matter what you do, will never be a JDM model.

Buy the car and then just start adding good quality parts. Research before you install or buy anything. This will help you to not waste money or make mistakes on purchases.

 

hmm i was lookin into that 99 dx it looks clean so well i guess what im now interested in is that 99 dx drive it for like a year then mount a pretty good engine and more do these come in stick?

Other than that, as a suggestion for what car should be your first, I couldn't tell you. However, when I was 17, I got myself a 95 Civic hatchback. Great car for your life in Frisco, what with parking being a problem.

Good space in the back for groceries and whatnot, and it's super small in comparison to other cars nowadays, which can make squeezing into tiny spots much easier. Also, due to it's size, it can be very maneuverable and quick without having a high-horsepower, gas guzzling engine.

Personally, I swear by the 92-95 hatch for it's compact size, good mileage, and all-around driveability, with good aftermarket support. However, the 96-00 hatch can probably closely match all the 92-95 has to offer, but then, it just comes down to personal choice and funds. Happy car hunting, enjoy your reading.
