Default Why do you love your si? (sell me on them)

Quick backstory: i owned this...

then sold it for an 2006 WRX.

Well i think i may have made a mistake. The wrx is quick, and thats great, but it just may not be the car for me. So im looking to trade it for a new si.

Why do you love your si? why is it perfect for you? Whats good and whats bad?

I love it because (ironically) I just beat a WRX from a roll on the highway.

truthfully i'm kinda hating it now.

I too had a DC2 but it was stolen...i bought the SI thinking it will fill that void. I was wrong....i loved my DC2 more than my FA5.

The SI is the most comfortable car (honda) i've ever driven....really smooth but the power just isnt there. Yah i dont have any mods but it's only because i think about trading/selling it. maybe if i modded it i may feel differently but lately i've been thinking about going back to my roots and getting an old civic to mod. I like driving my wife's DC5 better than the SI.

This is just me though. it also seems like a lot of young heads own SI's now and when i see these dudes on the road they drive all stupid and it really turns me off to the idea of me owning one. it's like the fad now to have an SI.

I'm torn between modding mine and just selling it to get something else. i say dont get one.

honest answers, i like that. I am concerned with the lack of power, and it doesnt seem like there is very much aftermarket support. No koni yellows?

i to have been deciding on getting a new si. my thoughts were either the si or an S2K. with the amount of money i'm trying to spend the Si has lower miles and is newer than the S2K (tryin' to spend like 18-19k)

that may be so but then you're still limited. everyone is sitting around playing the waiting game for a possible tuning solution other than a piggy back system. everything is readily available for the older models.

maybe im just impatient

also when you want to start modding interior parts you'd run into issues. like lets say a detachable steering wheel...you'd loose all the stock steering wheel features/controls which makes it seem pointless to mod in the first place. swap out the seats....you'd loose the sensor on the pasenger side that activates/deactivates the side airbag.

im not trying to argue but rather show the OP other reasons not to get an SI.

DD i'm all about it.....as a modding platform I'd pass.

yea waiting fo the turning is gay. even the GTR that isnt even out yet is about to have a tuning solution. But the SI is fun to drive i have I/H/E amd i still think that its not that fast. a nice DD though.

i dont own one but ive driven a few. I prefer my dc to the si. It just isnt as raw and i dont feel as connected to the road. Older hondas are the best in that department

the si is a great car. it won't blow the doors off every car on the road, but it is a great drive. it handles well. it has a little umph off the line with the engine, 6spd, and lsd. it is really comfortable, and a nice looking car. the build quality is great, especially compared to cars in it's range. it's not the fastest, best handling, or nicest car you can get...but it's damn good.

I dont want to jack the thread but... I heard that a tuning solution was going to come out in the next year or so.

Correct me if I am wrong.

i love my si because those little minor mods like i/h/e shows significant gains even with a throttle body spacer by like p2r.. you get good gains.. it only gets better and when the tuning solution is out everyone will be happy.. sooner or later they will and itll be worth the wait.. until then im waiting for my warranty to go out anyway so why not enjoy the car instead of modding it to the full extent there is my opinion

i have the fa5 and i love it.. at the same time its frustrating as hell b/c of this 3rd gear issue.. im 18 and i just love all of hondas and i think that kids my ag all just beat the **** out of their cars... i just own the car to own it.. its a beautiful car.. i dont hit v-tec through every gear like i have something to prove.. i just simply know that its there .. and it is kinda depressing that sales for 2008 went u so much cuz now everyone has one.. it is like a fad to kids my age but they dont even know what they are buying and now im seeing a few riced out ones.. pisses me off like no other.. haha. but i love it.. and it may be a bit too overpriced IMO

i have a 08 fa5 and i love it. we picked it up a couple months ago and ive already got a dc header and an aem cold air. the power is pretty decent and for a fwd sedan it handles really well. and the interior is very comfortable.

Sarcasm buddy. Sarcasm.

OP drives a WRX and seems to think the Si has a "lack of power".

IMO I find it particularly intriguing to own a car that's deceptively faster than alot of cars that are technically "more powerful" than the Si.

i know this is a weird response in this, but its the truth

new civics got the best cup holders in the world lol.

new si seats are the best oem seats i have sat in

white with black interior is great (applies to TW si)

6speed is great

but overall for me its the small things that people take for granted i like, but its just stuff all the newer cars have

like auto up and down window on driver side
auto locking doors
and i have say, and u do get used to it, but love the high mounted speedo and shift light with the si

things about an si u have to know

3rd gear resistance or problems
slight rattles been reported alot (nothing major)
thin paint (chips alot)

like some one said it before its just a really fun car to drive. i had an 06 350Z and dont get me wrong, very nice car and torque was really nice but it was just so boring to drive that thing imo. sometimes just becasue a car is faster then then other, doesnt mean you're gonna enjoy driving it. Theres just something about the si that i have a smile in my face everytime i drive it.
