Car just shut off

i start my car, the rpm needle is shaking from 1000 to 1500, then just drops to 0 and shuts off, start up the car again same thing. start up the car again and its anyone whats wrong

also after it stalls the check engine light is on, its not blinking it just stays lit, but after i start it up its gone

do the basic tune up and check for vacuum leaks.
