Engine sounds like a diesel???
specs:
-d16y8
-eagle rods
-cp pistons
-edelbrock turbo kit
Engine runs like a top. i'm wondering, is this noise from where i may not have notched the block as much as i should have? there was a spot on the girdle that was about a 1/16" from touching the arp rod bolts. its not a spun bearing so dont say it!

Not a rod knock or anything like that, too loud to be valvetrain. my money is with keith, it must be some reciprocating part thats about to quit. Water pump would be my first guess without being able to look at it.

well its a new water pump. ptwc isnt an issue, it was in spec with the helms and with forged pistons they tend to want a looser ptwc. probably the forged pistons making some noise or the arp rod bolts coming in contact with the girdle.
