Transmission compatibility for 89 CRX HF w/ D15B2
I am considering buying an 89 crx HF, seller says it has a D15B2, not sure if that's the original engine or not.....problem is it needs a new transmission (5spd), can someone please let me know what vehicles i can source a transmission from? model/yr please.
Thanks alot!

any 88-91 transmission will work but the combo of flywheel and clutch will change with your choice of transmission year.
the 88 had a 190mm flywheel and 21 spline clutch
the 89 had a 200mm flywheel and 20 spline clutch
the 90-91 had 212mm flywheel and 20 spline clutch.
92-2000 transmissions also work, with a 89-2000 20 spline d-series clutch and respective flywheel, but you will need the hasport cable to hydro conversion kit, which will probably cost more than the transmission.

that would be: Any 88-91 CRX or Civic 2-door hatchback. the 88-91 wagovans are also fair game, but only the 2 wheel drive models.
The important part is what i stated in the previous post, and that is that the flywheel and clutch are what will make using any 88-91 trans possible, because there ARE minor differences in the transmissions through the years, but they are remedied by changing the clutch and flywheel to match the right year of transmission.
