was thinking about buying the new 912, good thing i went to check it out in person first. seems like the only tires made in japan are the Dunlops,Yokos, and Toyos. i will only support those 3 tires. can't beat the direzza's, they are bad ***. i had them for 2 years and still got a lot of meat left. they are superior on the streets i'm not sure about tracks though. good in dry and wet condition, not only that, they look hella good too!
will definately buy another set.
will definately buy another set.
Certain sizes of the Falken Ziex ZE912 are made in Thailand. Some sizes are still made in Japan, and the FK-452 and RT-615 Falkens are still made in Japan.

Every big tiremaker in the world is making tires in multiple countries. You can buy Japanese-brand tires made in the United States, United States-brand tires made in Germany and in China, etc.

The tires are engineered in Japan, prototyped and tested in Japan, the tools (molds) are made in Japan, The materials are the same, the manufacturing and quality methodologies are all designed by by the Falken engineers, so the tires are the same quality as those manufactured in Japan. Thailand offers cheaper labor and real estate which is what is leveraged- the engineering and management is Japanese. The Thai's will learn how to do this stuff and eventually you will see domestically owned Thai brand tires as well. Interestingly Thailand has become more expensive- roughly 4x as expensive as China- and China is becoming more expensive as their currency drifts up against the tanking dollar so large chunks of aisan manufacturing is moving to Vietnam. Pretty soon you will be driving around on "made in Vietnam tires"!

Hmmmmmmm. I dunno. My guess would be the management and shareholders like it and the displaced workers do not like it.
