oil light on at idle...new oil pump?
I just got my b18c bottom end rebuild and had a new OEM type R oil and water pump install. I put regular Castrol GTX oil for the break in and installed a T-fitting at the back of the block with the OEM sensor and a Teflon braided line that goes to a sendor unit on the firewall for my oil pressur gage.
Started the car no prob and drove it 45 minutes to brake it in. Now when I start the motor, the oil light comes in on the dash althought my gage shows arround 10psi at idle, if I bleep the gas the oil light goes away but comes back if the car idles for more the 15 seconds?????
Bad oil pump, bad oil viscoucity, Oil pick up gasket letting air in, bad sensor or wirring, or my T fitting systeme is at fault???
What should i check first

pull the t fitting off.
put the aftermarket sensor in so you can check oil pressure at idle. once warmed up id say 18-25psi is normal.
and or
put the stock sensor in and see if the oil light goes off

So you are saying put the Aftermarket sending unit right into the block to get an accurate reading, let the car warm up to regular temp and then if PSI is fine, put the sensor back in by itself to check if light goes away!!!
Out of curiousity, When I was a 1/4 throttle at like 4500rpm, my gage showed me arround 40psi, if I then gave it wide open throttle it would go to arround 55psi....stopped at 5500rpm cause didn't want to go into VTEC
Is that pressure low?

yeah seems low from what ive personally seen on my cars. its not horrible, but the reason i say take the t fitting out is because when ive used one for oil press and temp...the oil temp never works right...so it could be a similar situation.
Ok so I found my Oil pressure problem, my Machinist forgot to tighten the 2 nuts to hold down the oil pick up...I torqued them down and now i have 75psi at idle when motor cold ofcourse!!!!
Cheers!

Ya forgeting a bearing is a costly mistake for sure.
I took my car out for a quick spin and it puffes blue smoke out the back now so damage has been done
The machinist will rebuild my motor for free but I hate having to pull it out once again!
Cheers!
