Default SUBTLE body kit for the usdm integra (94-01) does it exist?

I dont drive an integra, but I am planning on designing/making molds for a a subtle front bumper for the usdm integra (94-01)

I know for the jdm integra they exist: airwalker bumper is somewhat not so crazy:

I know that lips exist for the oem stock usdm bumpers, but all the body kits are rather wayy to overdone and crazy

I guess what i'm asking is, is there a need for a good looking aftermarket front bumper for the usdm integra?

would it be worth designing?

(no designs as of yet, I am just thinking of cars to coem up with designs for that are lacking in the "good aero styling" department)

SUBTLE and body kit dont go together in the same sentence. i know there are some who may disagree, but thats just my honest opinion

well-

if you think about it, a body kit in general is going to by more agressive than stock-

but most of them have horrible designs for the usdm integra, which are wayyyy too crazy- they dotn compliment the car at all-

so a subtle body kit, or should I say "clean" body kit with more of a simple design might compliment the car better-

true. but do you do this for business or something? cause you really got to make a name for yourself like airwalker/bys before you come out with something thats going to sell like hotcakes. Otherwise your kits will end up on ebay just like the 40 other knock off brand names that sell everything and anything aero just to make a dime.

i go to Rhode Island School of Design for industrial design. I work alot with composite materials (carbon fiber....etc)

I am planning on working for this distributor (www.elitejdm.com) a east coast distribitor of jdm front ends/aero/performance parts.

the guys travels here and there every once in a while.

THe way I think of it, if its a good design, and people want it- it will sell.

to my knowledge thats how junction produce started, they made kits for their freinds only (not that i'm doing that)

I cant think really of one good bumper design for the usdm integra- thats why im asking

going about making the molds and stuff like that is all about skill time and materials- which I have been learing about the product design field for a while, going to my senior year.

I would not think of selling these on ebay, rather going through a distributor and having them start their own line, or going through connection of friends and the internet.

one thing different about those ebay sellers is alot of times they sell replica parts, they are distributors or manufacturers - not designers

all of the usdm integra body kits hurt my eyes to look at on ebay (exclude lip kits)
I also notice it would be hard to "make a name for yourself" on ebay

they only can control what is already designed, replicate and sell it for cheaper/ w/ less quality and or anything along these lines...

just thought i'd add that

make your own design, something that flows with the lines of the car.

well good luck man. honestly i wouldnt consider airwalker japan / BYS anything close to a body kit, more a viable option for those that want to stand out with out overkill. So i suppose that could be a good starting point.

if your a creative guy like me you should be able to sit down in front of a computer and draw up some preliminary designs, post them up and see what kind of feedback you get instead of basing your design off, whats already been produced.

i might do some sketches and then some cad/solid works files-

i am thinking of keeping the oem bumper style and keeping the turn signals the same but slightly changing the bottom to give it a little more sharp look.

ill do some photoshop ideas and seee what you guys think

I don't think there were many subtle kits out there, maybe none at all lol.

Although, I did like a few kits for Tegs..

The Bomex kit,

And for some reason, the 'Extreme' Kit..

yea those are alright, but still somewhat predator like....lol

here is a photoshop i did-

i figured, the bumper sinks in where the headlights are, so maybe there could be a clear cover to cover them to make the surface smooth..

i did some other minor changes:

the first idea:

although my first design doesnt really mess that much with the air dam, i am trying to think of a good design for the sides of it (those 2 rectangle areas that would be get in ever so slightly)

i did some sketches to see if an upper air dam would look good, and it just didnt....

this car seems to only really look good when it has a very oem stockish looking bumper, which is what I am trying to go for-

the covers on the headlights would be screw on, and would be inset so it would be flush with the surface,

it kind of resembles a supra in my opinion?

i was also thinking of messing with the "integra" text, making it bigger or maybe changing that little area to a intake area (i dontknow if that would look too much?)

i have never looked into integra stuff all that much, but i think that if you did come up with a very nice looking clean front bumper , (something like BYS/airwalker etc. for example) that did compliment the car and make it look much cleaner but slightly more aggressive in a more oem fashion, i think that peeps would definately go for it and soon it'd be the next honda-tech craze lol

the one guy mentioned your junk being on ebay, but hey, you gotta start somewhere right? and how else are you supposed to make a name for yourself bodykit wise if you dont start out by making a kit!

good luck, i will check this thread again in a little while to see if you came up with any concepts, that photoshop you did, although not the greatest still, i think, is a pretty good start on a concept

yea, i did the photoshop while in class- so its a start at least...

i used this picture from the 94-97 tegs as the original picture:

i feel that the "extreme" bumper posted above really isn't bad, if there were some modifications to that middle unecessary vertical panel and if the vents werent so "extreme it would be a good design

well i know for a fact as far as the usdm 98-01 front goes there are pretty much only 2 options...

although i think instead of focusing on a whole front bumper piece maybe you should just do a lip... like you said you would mainly want to change the bottom of the bumper....

i would look into the styling of oem lips and also into clean after market ones not available for integras then take into consideration size and body lines and come up with a sketch...

**** if its clean ill be your first customer

Try making bumpers with the style of popular lips already on them? Basicly the ultamite honda bumper. What does everyone put on their teg in jdm land? Fog lights, removed linces plate holes, and a lip either color matched or carbon fiber. So do exactly that. Create a bumper with mugen style lips, spoon style lips, type r style lips, already painted to match with foglights, maybe a license frame of to the side or not at all.

When creating something, the easiest start is to look at what people already like, and make THAT easier for them. Then once youve created your name you can become "riskay" and create more extreme looks.

Hope that helps, thats just what I would like to see. A USDM 94 integra front bumper with oem style fogt lights and a color matched mugen lip (without the slits) would be AMAZING. I dont care much about have no license or having it off center. Maybe make one with latches that recline back so the license goes into the intercooler like everyone already does here.

^ i totally agree with you-

I am going to try out a bunch of different designs and see what you guys like, and what I like-

but either way, i want to come up with something that is both clean and different

.... you guys might think im nuts, but here is what I did to a type r, I added the same clear lense, with the area inside blacked out, but the stock lights stay the same with their silver housings-

then i decided to make a large air dam that spans the whole bumper-

i think it turned out pretty interesting...

EXTREMELY good advice

and to go along with what this guy is saying, i was in fact going to buy a bumper just like what he described for my old car, it was a bumper that looked seamless if you will, as if it always had a spoon lip on it, here is a picture:

Thats intense, the big dam design. If it held the same type r design in the lip it would look real nice, but right now I think that looks a lil TOO simple. If you see on white foxs picture which is sexy as hell, take those 3 front grills and combine them and make it the same size but keep those slits at the bottom of the lip to add a lil more.
