anyone ever dealt with these turbo? search engine is down and i haven't seen any reviews for the ball bearing sc series.

 

They are using the same cartridge as a Garrett. If it is the T3/T4 SC series, its not much different than the conversions that garrett had offered. This is why its not found in the search as much.

 

here is a guy i sold an old turbo kit to, it had a t3/67mm non ball bearing when i sold it to him, then he switched to a Precision Turbo BB t3/67 HO. read through the thread

let's say my original plan was to go with the sc34. But if I wanted to go with a BB setup, would I benefit from stepping it up to lets say... the bb sc50?

 

If you're considering upgrading to the SC50bb, you're not going to see an increase in spool time contrary to what most people think. You'll see a faster recovery (transient response) after shifting, but that's about it. If you're going to drop the money on an $800 turbo and spend another $500 on the BB CHRA, why not just upgrade to something like a GT30r?? Although many people think the BB CHRA is the reason they spool fast, it really isn't. Its the fact that the wheels are designed around the BB CHRA in order to maximize the effect.

Simply swapping over to a BB CHRA is a costly, yet rather useless "upgrade."

I guess I'll stick to the sc34. But I was very curious about the BB.

Most people are rather curious about the BB CHRAs because if they worked as people assume they do, it would be worth the money. Sadly, you will not see a gain in spool time by changing the bearing package; however, there are other options available if you want a faster spooling turbo that won't kill your wallet. PM TheShodan and see what he can offer you. I did when i was in need of my last turbo. I was anything but disappointed
