Engine Build Pistons
Hey guys I have a problem...well my buddy has a problem. He just purchased a 98 Acura Integra GSR from South Carolina and he drove the car for about 2 days on the 2nd day the engine started to get hot and coolent started coming out of the resavour, head gasket, etc... After bringing it into a shop the shop told him that he needed a head gasket replacement. They replaced the gasket, machine shop, etc, and basically when they put it back it now knocks. They believe the problem is in the bottom and they could tell someone worked on the engine before (it was marked).
So anyways he is going to buy the shop owners (another friend) Type R engine and the build is all ready to roll except he needs pistons. I told him how great this site is and how u guys have always helped me out on simple problems. He wants to know what would you guys recommend for pistons for a B18C5 engine (he said it was the 200HP not the 210HP Type R). He is not going to boost the engine at all just cold air induc. Well you can tell I dont know much about cars but u do
Thanks guys!

He can go with the ITR cast pistons or PR3's which will give slightly more compression than the ITR's OR the P30's which will give slightly more compression than the PR3's....There's also CTR pistons which will give you more compression than all of the previous 3 i mentioned. It's his call....
He'll prob need 81mm (stock bore) pistons btw.
I hope this helps.....

I highlighted the parts that make no sense.

Yea sorry I just got brief information from him. He purchase the car I saw it, its a 98 Acura Integra GSR. The engine is basically toast. He wants to purchase a built Type R engine with 200HP (I guess there is 2 types of Type R's). He said its not the 210 HP Type R. Everything is in place but he needs new pistons to finish up the build (what the shop owner told him). What I guess I am looking for is a good website and a really good brand of pistons. He is going pure stock no boost.
Thanks

IMO... just stick with the OEM one. Contact Sons Acura and ask for Len. He'll take care of you.
