Default when should i replace my tires?

I live in the city and job is 2 miles away, so I drive 5000 miles a year, city miles tho.

my tires are 2 years old, but still have like 90% tread, 10 k miles on them. when should I change it? I know by counting mileage, it would take me like 20 years to replace them, but i want to know about counting the time/years on them, since tires are the only thing keeping cars on the road.

thanks

when they start to go bald, when it rains u can feel it hydroplane, when u get a new set of wheels, when u want to upgrade tires, when camber wear gets really bad

by the time it gets bald, its going to be like 20 years since i drive very little miles on it.

its just like changing a timing belt, its done at 90k, but that would take me 18 years to get to that point, I would just do it every 7 years, just to be safe.

thanks for the input turbojdmhatch, but i just want to be safe than sorry

also since you dont drive many miles, after so many years your sidewall may start to crack, especially near the bead of the tire chances are you will replace them b/c of that before treadware becomes an issue

yep. like everyone else said, you'll probably have to replace them before they're worn out. if you do happen to wear them out, they need replacement once the wear reaches the wear bars, which (if my memory serves right) is at around 3mm of tread left. otherwise, keep an eye out for that pesky dry rot.

Edit: i wished i lived only 2 miles from my job, haha.

before i moved here, i lived 10 miles away, and yes living close is great. the only bad thing is i get 22 mpg on my civic compared to 35, but i use very little gas since i fill up once a month. even at 6 a gallon, it still wonuldnt bother me

i would change them when the sidewalls show cracking.... either that or when the rubber is all gone and you are running one wires.
