Ok i have a stock suspension and its knocking in the front when i hit bumps, sounds alot like the struts are on their way out, i've had the wheel off had a look up around and it doesnt seem like the strut is hurt at all, with the tire on theres virtually no play in the tire so i'm starting to rule out the strut, anyone have any idea what could be causing this? possible bad bushing maybe?

 

had the same problem when i first got my car. Took it right back to the dealer to find out the bump stop on the front right was missing. Every time i hit a bump it would slam loudly. hope this helps

 

its not a loud sound, but sounds almost exactly like a bad strut, but the strut seems fine, i'm not all that up on the inner workings of a suspension or the parts themselves but theres an arm behind the wheel berring and continues to the front of the car at the end theres a bushing, the rubber on the top of that bushing has a few cracks in it, obviously that seems to be on its way out too but could that be whats causeing the noise instead of the strut?

 

i have the same problem on my 2001. even after i changed out the struts its still there. so i decided i'm gunna get an alignment maybe that will work for u too i hope it does for me.

 

yea i have an appointment tomorrow afternoon for an alignment, just had my winter tires/rims off today and notice some slight wear along in the inside of the front tires, this is the first time i had my Blades on my car and i have new tires on those rims that i dont want worn early, hopefully an alignment will fix the knock, as long as its not a danger to myself or anyone else on the road i'll just deal with the noise untill i can go get it fixed if it is someting else.

So it turns out the Passenger side Ball Joint is starting to give out, and both front struts are starting to leak out, $350 in parts and 3 hours labour later and no more knock.

 

Look at the bushings, and make sure your middle strut bolt is tight. Mine was loose and was making a noise.

 

bushings are fine for now, the strut isnt bad, but its leaking now and once it starts it wont stop, so they're gonna be replaced, and the ball joint is starting to get bad, but its only gonna get worse, gonna have all this work done next wednesday

 

as another point of reference even though see prob was fixed, had loose strut to camber plate bolts caused loud knocking on mine...tightened to approxl 150 ft/lbs (recommended by manual is 124 i think) an fixed for me
