Having major A/C issues, help please!!! 2000 Honda Civic Si.
So I have recently been having trouble with my A/C and I live in Alabama. The summer heat is coming up and I need to get this issue fixed.
I followed step by step in my factory service manual and still could not figure out my issue.
When I cut the A/C fan on, the clutch in the compressor does not kick on. So when you attach a wire to the 1 and 2 sockets in the A/C relay under the hood (second from the top in the under hood fuse box), the clutch kicks on and the a/c works fine. So we thought it may be the relay, but when we put in a working relay, we still had no clutch kicking on when the A/C was turned on in the car.
So after days of headaches, I took the car to a mechanic. He just called me and told me there is a hole in my condensor, so it and my fan need to be replaced. And he also said that they got the clutch in the compressor to kick on, but it would cutoff after 20 seconds. He tried to tell me that the ECU was cutting the A/C off and I needed a new ECU.
I know this dude is trying to rip me a [freak]ing new one, So I am headed today to pick my car up. I know how to work on cars, but this is just frustrating as hell.
I have no problem replacing the condensor, but does anyone have a clue as to what's going on and why the clutch in the compressor would not be coming on???

if the guy was right about a hole in your condensor, i wouldn't be engaging the compressor clutch more than once.
replace the condensor and then see what happends.
i'm assuming u don't have an a/c machine or access to one

hmmm, that makes a lot of sense.
so hopefully with the new condenser, and no leaks, I should be good?
