Default DOES MY CAR HAVE A NEWER MOTOR?

Ok guys I guess I should start with a formal intro, Im a 26 yr old Logistician for The Texas National guard, have dabbed in hondas for years mostly CRX's but just picked up a 94 Teg LS, so here is my question , I looked around for awhile and found nothing specific to help so any help that can be provided is appreciated,

So I have a 94 teg LS, the car itself has 248,000 miles pretty high I know but all around the car is in beautiful shape the motor runs strong but when I bought it the guy said it had a 99 LS motor with around 90k on it, I have found no way to verify this except for looking for another O2 sensor which is not present, so is there any other way to tell because this could have been disconnected from the harness right? The ECU is throwing an O2 code and he said it was for this reason, but like I said I just want to know what kind of mileage Im looking at on the motor, it's really for peace of mind since Im planning on doing a B20Z swap but if anyone can give me a clue Id greatly appreciate it.

If I'm not mistaken, the head has the year stamped on the side...

I remember hearing this, so don't take my word on it...

If anyone could confirm this

right where the header bolts up there is a series of circles and i think its the 3rd one that should have a 9/9 instead of a 9/4, thats only for the head though, im not sure on the block, are you running obd2 or obd1?
if its obd1 then it still can be a 99 motor but it is an easy wait if the head is not readable.

Hey thanks guys , after I found out about the stamp I stumbled on another post with a guy who had a similar proplem ok so heres how it goes the stamps under the block I was told that look for the one that looks like a year well the only one that looks close is a 9/3 which I guess the head could have been stamped in 9/3 for 94 production so this is no suprise another tip I was given on this post was look at the serial stamp under the engine code on the block whatever the first # is like 1xxxxxxxxx , 2xxxxxxx or 3xxxxxxx and so on that first number determines what year production the series was built for example the B18B1 started production in 94 so that would be represented by a 1 and 95 would be a 2 and 96 a 3 and so on, my serial starts with a 1 , so basically I got jipped and overpaid a little for a car with 250,000 on it if I had done my homework previous to buying I guess I would have known but oh well im already putting the wheels in motion on a b20Z swap which souldnt be to complicated, I guess it's really a testament to the lifeline of a honda motor as well, you take care of them and they will take care of you so far the only problem Ive had is the IACV which was an easy fix, but thanks for all the help guys and quick responses, really helped alot.

It seems like you have already figured out a few ways to identify the year of the motor but here is another way, all honda engines and transmissions after 1996 have a vin stamped on them, you can use the vin# to determine the year of the motor

if you intend to build the b20z with aftermarket pistons and cams, you might as well get a b20b. i paid 1100 for a b20z longblock over a 500 b20b longblock because i wanted a high compression b20. big mistake. the only difference in motors is pistons/cams and mileage. if your going to rebuild then mileage doesnt matter either. if you are going to stay stock then just get the b20z with an aftermarket intake manifold or use your ls manifold. or........you can spend that money on gsr head,b16 or gsr tranny and golden eagle ls/vtec conversion and use your current short block. this would cost more or less the same as a b20z and be much much nicer/faster/stronger. anyways. welcome to h-t and good luck
