tach miss reading while street tuning???

went to do some street tuning for more boost and, when i would do some pulls the tach would only go to 7k but the engine would keep reving all the way to 8800? why would this cause this? thanks guys.
There's no reason to chuck a perfectly good distributor....
If I remember right, the output comes off the ignitor. Grab a manual and look up the trouble shooting for a malfunctioning tach and it should tell you where the output comes from. Replace a part, not the whole thing.

who said anything about chucking his distributor? If you actually read my post you would see I said "try a different one if you have a spare", not "go chuck your distributor and buy a new one"
I was merely pointing him in a direction that he could look to do some troubleshooting...and besides, the ignitor itself from Honda cost almost as much an entire distributor. I got a brand new distributor with a lifetime warranty for 175 shipped. Either way, good luck to the OP, I hope you get yor issue corrected
