hey guys, so i wake up this morning and go to get some mcgreasers. and as i am pulling out of my parking spot there is a pop and vola my car no longer wants to move
The car goes into gear fine. But it doesnt require the use of the clutch. Car will not move an inch without pushing it. there arel weird noises once the car in gear. \it doesnt stall out or anything.
It is sunday afternoon and there are no places open to even look at it today. It is my dd. Hoping it is something simple. But any ideas to what it may be?
Not taht is probably matters overly but it is a stock d15b in an eg. it has also been converted to a manual tranny, but that was over a year ago and never any problems there.

well, if you did blow the tranny, the shifter would be able to spin in a circle around the gears. Try that and report back. otherwise, someone else may have easier help for ya.
Um, no it wouldnt......
Anyways...
Check your driveshafts first. If you snapped one, or it decided to break, the car will not move. Check to see if you have an axle turning when its in gear, that will pinpoint the bad shaft.
Describe a "pop." Do you mean a BOOM! as is common with an exploded differential? You gotta be more precise than "pop".

hey thanks for the quick responses. i have done everything you suggested. I can spin the shifter all over the place in gear.. but i have always been able to.. no difference there. got to get new bushings.
i did look to see the drive shaft but it is dark and rainy here so unable to see.. i will double check in the morning.
The speedo does move when started up and in gear. So is it possible axle problem then? Last time i blew an axle it was dragging on the ground? Dont haven anything like that this time. There is no oil or anything where it was parked and running.
Also the cluch showed very little sign of wear on it. Still grabbed very well up until today.
The pop sounded like a little ballon was poped. Nothing overly loud.
Any more ideas would be great. I was starting to worry bout the clutch and cost involved. I would have done it my self if it is the case, but lack of area of to work, and time it just wont be able to happen.

i was wondering if it was a cv axle, wouldnt it still require you to push the clutch to get the car in gear? and would it not stall when you release the clutch. Sorry for the newb questions. Not overly familar with any type of transmission/clutch/axle problems.
