Default What the heck, Won't start!!!

A week ago I replaced my battery with a red top optima battery, started up perfectly! My car has been sitting so I start it once a week and let it run till its warm. Today i go out side and it fires up! I let it sit for about 5mins then turn it off. Then I start it again and turn it off again. This time it seemed like it didn't fire up right away so I start it again and it hesitated when I turned the key like a power down of the whole dash then nothing. No juice to the dash! I check the battery with a volt meter 12.67v okay... Then I look for busted fuses under the hood and dash, all perfect...

My after-market alarm still works, kinda... when I lock the car the siren chirps and I can hear the locks try to lock but they don't and the siren sounds like it's under water like it has a short!
I try and start it again but nothing happens when I put the key in and turn it, no dash lights, no starter click nuthing!

Next I tried hookin up a battery charger, the charger says the battery is fully charged. While hooked up to the charger I put the key in and the dash lights come on! With a loud humm coming from under the dash I turn the key and starter clicks but no start and the dash lights and fuel and temp gage strobe on and off with the clicking of the starter!

If I disconnect the charger i get no dash power or starter clicking like its dead but my alarm still will chirp...
HELP!???

Try to get someone to jump you. Just b/c you battery reads 12V that DOES NOT mean it is good. Its amps your looking for, not volts. Ive had an optima red top for 3+ years and never had a single problem at all. Check your grounds also. I suspect a bad ground

Once you get it started, check the battery voltage while it's running. Less than about 13.5-14.0 and you've got a bad alternator.

Otherwise, try a new battery.

Check grounds too, and alternator wiring, but it sounds like a battery or alternator to me.

So I found the culprit!!! Starts like a dream!

Ne one heard of Hyper Ground System by SUN? Well its not the wires them selves but the box (hyper voltage system) Its suppose to stabilize the voltage across the battery.

I think the new Optima, which has 200 more amps than my old battery, was too much for the little box and toasted it. It was causing a ground across the battery. So its out now and my lude starts over and over and over again! Hahaha! Yeah!
