Default shift light recommendation and location, any ideas?

So I'm looking to get a shift light but I don't like the huge 5 inch tachometers, I just want a nice looking shift light. I was looking at Apex'is Gizzmo Dualstage Shift Light. Anyone have any pics or recommendations on some good shift lights? Thanks

I used to have one made by AutoMeter. It's about the same size as the one that comes with the 5" tachs but requires RPM pills. I believe I got mine from Summit Racing.com. You can replace the yellow lense for a red or blue one. The bulb (#921) can also be replaced, if you like.

Here's the link:

If he drives at night, that shift light is like a freakin high beam inside the passenger compartment. Trust me, that light is BRIGHT. Just don't install it on the dash aiming at the driver. Cops get a little jumpy when they see it. (don't ask me why)

You shouldn't be hitting your shiftlight next to a cop.

I got pulled over for having a clear cover on my rear license plate and the cop was about to draw his gun when he saw the shift light. Retard thought it was a gun or sumthing because it was pointed at the driver. That would have been f**ked up....getting shot because some lamea55 cop mistaken a shift light for a gun.

You have to tell the shift light when the light needs to come on. They don't read your ECU and even if they did, shift points are really up to the driver.

The "pills" are basically something you insert into the shift light so it knows when to shift. It only applies to shift lights that use the pill feature. Personally, I think its retarded because its just extra money for no reason.

I would recommend Auto Meter or Stewart Warner for a shift light because I've used both and had no problems with either.

Shift Light, Level 1

I think that's the one I'm going to get, how do I know the correct shift point?

Look into a Raptor shift light. Its the cleanest setup available in my opinion, no pills required. Great looking too.

I wired up my high beams to be my shift light. so when I have to shift, the light gets brighter. Keeps my eye focused on the road, no distractions.

^ werd, just set it up to light up a light on your cluster instead of putting a huge stupid light in your car to tell you when to shift....its not that hard to just look at the tach too

There is nothing sleeper about a shift light. If that bitch lights up, its very clear from outside the car. The only way to make it any kind of "sleeper" is to put one the 'condoms' over the light.
