Default clutch pedal adjustments/pedal extensions

Let me start off by telling you that I am 3ft 9 in tall. No joke. I drive a 91 GSR swapped crx. To drive my car I use pedal extensions. These extensions can move from car to car within 5 minutes or so. The gas and brake pedal clamp down using 3 hooks, and can be adjusted to move at different angles with an allen wrenches.

My clutch pedal is a totally different setup. It is like a puzzle, you put all the different pieces together, at different angles and directions. Angles and pieces used depend on what car I am driving. Anyway you screw all the pieces together and then you place the top piece over the clutch pedal and the bottom piece under the pedal. You screw the two pieces together and it clamps onto the clutch pedal.

I have owned my car and have been daily driving it for the past month. In the past few days I have run into a lot of troubles with my clutch pedal. My car wasn’t starting because my pedal extension wasn’t letting the clutch go down far enough to engage the safety mechanism. Because of the piece that camps on the bottom is thick, it hits the carpet sooner than it should, and the car won’t start (because the clutch won’t go down far enough to engage the clutch safety thing).

So I wondered why this doing this now after a month of driving? I took off my extension and found that the actual clutch pedal is starting to bend. The metal on the top of the pedal is becoming weak from having pressure applied from such an odd angle. Since the pedal is bent, my extension is now at a different angle and now it hits the floor much earlier than it should (and not starting).

I tried taping over the pedal, didn’t do anything.

So my dilemma is what do I do to make my car start again? I know I could adjust/remove the safety switch. But if I do that then I am only postponing a problem. Because if my clutch isn’t down all the way when I am driving and shifting isn’t it going to burn out much faster? I really don’t want to replace a clutch any time soon. Also I think if I put my extension back on it will snap off the pedal on my car, seeing its already bending and the metal is weak. So does anyone have any ideas? Should I reinforce the pedal? Cut up my extensions for better clearance. also my pedal has some play to it. i can move it up and down mabye a 1/4 of an inch, is there anyway to fix that? i am open for any suggestions, thank you for taking your time and reading this post. i know it was long.

You will definately want to beef up the pedal assembly. They are pretty weak.
Either remove it and beef it up, or check out a DA (90-93 integra) pedal assembly, I hear they are made a bit stronger but i'm not positve.

and if you want to keep the safety switch you could weld that bracket directly to the pedal so it wont need that backing plate. or maybe thats not even the problem?
you should start with the bent bracket first though.

As far as adjusting the "free play" out of the clutch, there is supposed to be 15-20 mm or 0.5"-0.8"(at the original pedal), so your's may be a bit tight.
to adjust this there is a adjusting bolt, look for the first point the pedal hits up from the bottom. loosen the locking nut to adjust it.

thanks for the tip on the DA assembly. i had an 93 integra before this and i never had a problem with the clutch.

i will work on the bent clucth pedal. i am thinking of welding a backing on to it.
