Default Initial startup - thud sound... any insight?

Maybe someone here can shed some light on an issue that's been happening to my motor on cold startups. When I go to start the car every morning, it'd start right up on the first crank, but I get this awful sound like a loud thud right after I let go of the key in the ignition. After the car is warmed up this thud goes away. Could this be a bad rear motor mount? What do you guys think?

BTW, motor is a LSV (b18b/gsr head n tranny) built by previous owner. No other details . Runs very strong & been reliable so far on my 240mile excursions tho.
