Default couple of Q's for my Gf's 4door

hey all i really don't post here that often cause i moved to the scooby family but anyways my GF bought an 01 4door LX and she wanted to lower it

we went on ebay and scooped up a cheap set of coilovers which went on flawlessly

i was overlooking the operation and i noticed that the front LCA bushing was completely toasted on both sides and that the front left strut was completely trashed as well.

The springs i took of the car were alot bigger then the replacement coilover kit i got for it.

so i'll cliff this if i may lol

i bought ebay special coilovers and the front springs are really small in comparison to the oem ones. I replaced the 2 front struts and i haven't done the bushings yet.

now my questions. The car is reallllllllll low..i know we could use aftermarket shocks but i don't mind changing them when and if they blow b/c they have a lifetime warranty thru my parts store. the car makes a pretty loud bump noise if i hit a big bump. i'm just not sure if its bottoming out of it that bushing being completely shot is making the noise

i'm sooo used to the old suspension that this suspension i'm not sure if that bushing has to be pressed or not..

any ideas and an answer to whether those bushings have to be pressed would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

and hey matt i know you'll be overlooking this lol

lmk what you think man

If you have the time, paitence, and right equipment, then pressing out the shot busings and pressing new one's in would be the way to go.

For a faster and more painless (but more expensive) way to replace the bushings, just replace the whole suspension arm that already has new bushings in it.

Take a look at this, bud.

I would recommend an aftermarket bushing, as a replacement, as the stock ones are fairly weak and have a short lifespan.

hey matt, thanks for that thread

yes the compliance bushing is what is completly blown on both sides of her car.

the question i guess i need to ask now is with her car being so low when i hit a big bump would it sound like the car is bottoming out on a blown strut. its just terrible..i don't think it should be this bad...i could proboly go 2 inches lower on the coil...

i think its the fact that i bought her cheap springs thinking it would ride like my old cars did and the front springs are just to small for the car....hell they might of sold me the wrong freakin kit i dono i've never seen what a coilover kit looks like so i figured i got the right one

think of it this way

think of buying a coilover sleeve kit for a 92-00 civic

i basically got that exact same kit for her 01..i dont think its correct tho...

i'm going to keep doing research and i'm going to get some pics for you guys

thanks alot for the info

It could very well be in the quality of the parts bought, but I would say that it could also be due to either improper seating of the spring, or just that the compliance bushing is shot. Check the FAQ's for suspension stuff, bud.

my teins were also smaller int he front. but not as small as at bubble back per say. id say you either have the wrong set up or you need some adjusting in the spring as matt stated!!!

Not soon enough. Actually, I can wait one more month for paint/bodywork to get done... then it could come at any moment, and I would still say it's not soon enough.

Oh, dropped my car off at King Motorsports today as well, for exhaust/tuning/etc...
