Default NEED HELP ASAP!!! my brakes went out while i was driving. no pressure on pedal

i was driving up to a 4 way stop and i know i have a brake leak or something because every month i have to put in more brake fluid cus it gets low. but thats never been a problem the 6 months ive had my car.so i go to hit my brakes and the pedal goes down like nothing to the floor and does nothing and i let off and back on and it brakes which i was lucky. but then im testing it down the street and theres no pressure against my foot

the pedal goes strait to the ground. once its basically on the ground and i try to push it some more it brakes very slowly but then basically locks up and i skid.

if i slam the brakes on real quick with my foot it will feel the pressure again and its like normal braking but only a jolt then the pedal glides right down to the floor
im stuck at my friends house now. its drivable but its veryy risky and im only 16 and dont have much experience working on my car.

any opinions??

thanks a lot in advanced.

i checked my brake fluid and it was pure brown looked like strait up dirt floating around in it . like swirls of dirt
i got a towel to soak it up in and got it all out and filled it with fresh new brake oil thats crystal clear. still nothing changed.
but the brake fluid was VERRYY dirty

Bleed your brake system...looks like their is air trapped inside the lines...possible since you have low brake fluid.

sounds like you got a few problems.. one: your leaking fluid.. which is never good.
and second: sounds like a master cylinder problem. sometimes the seal makes the seal and you have a pedal.. other times it doesnt and you have no pedal.. take the two bolts off the master cylinder and see if there is any fluid between the cylinder and the brake booster.. might all be related to the master..

im taken it to my mechanic in half an hour .
yeah my friends dad thought it was the master cylinder
their has always been fluid leaking from it where the two bolts are but theres never been a problem so i thought that wasnt it.

if thats the problem . can i buy one from autozone or something? for pretty cheap? because my friends dad could put it in for me instead of paying more for a mechanic to do it.

thanks for the help guys ill let u know in a few hours what he says.

YES you can buy one at autozone for a decent price. and its not too bad replacing it, just make sure to bleed your brake system and fix that leak. But yes, it sounds like you have a lot of air trapped in your brake line/lines.
