Default 36mm vs. 32mm 5 lug bearing question

Okay, so I bought a 5 lug swap for my 96 civic hatch. The rear went on without an issue, but when I test fit my axles I noticed that the passenger side has the 36mm spline and the driver side has the 32mm!!!! My question is.... Is it possible to press out the bearing with the 36mm spline and replace it with the USDM type-r bearing that has a 32mm spline???

bump

and to answer my own question for anybody that ever finds this thread...... yes you can have a USDM Type-R bearing pressed in to replace the 36mm JDM bearing, the outer race of the bearings are the exact same, just a different spline diameter

Ahhhh, now I know why I get that little noob sign for my profile!!!!! Just to make absolutely sure that everybody knows I'm retarded:

THIS DOES NOT WORK!!!!!! You CANNOT have the USDM Type-R bearing pressed in because the outer race is NOT the same diameter. The JDM knuckle is too big for the bearing and it just slides rite on through to the other side!!! I took the knuckle to Acura to have them replace the bearing and hub, and when it didn't fit, instead of calling me, the technician found a factory bearing that DID fit (Acura TL), and pressed it in without replacing the hub. Now I have a brand new TL bearing and a 36mm ITR spline

So, I ordered the USDM Type-R knuckle, hub, and bearing to fix my problem! (Thank-you Silverhill for the patience, great service, and amazing prices!!)

What I learned: The only 5 lug that has a 36mm spline (from a civic or integra) is the 98 spec JDM ITR. DO NOT buy a 36mm 5 lug conversion unless you are prepared to make custom axles (which I'm not), or you want to use the stock 36mm ITR axles (which I don't, and could not find to purchase separately anyway). I hope this saves somebody some money or time so it doesn't feel like I've been wasting all of mine

I use oem bearings for a 2000 accord v6 or acura tl. As far as axels, for a while i used dss level 0 axles they worked great were similar quality to oem, and cost about $300. I now use rsx type s axles with a k swap in a dc2 integra with the 36mm hubs. Hope this will help some.

If you do get the 36mm ITR 5 lug you can run 99 CRV 5speed axels. They are 36mm like the JDM type r suspension.

no sir not true crv axles are too long by a few inches. completely agree, don't buy jdm 5 lugs its a MAJOR head ache finding axles, stick with usdm type r if you plan on converting to the 5 lug.

Use USDM parts instead of JDM parts.

why would you use accord parts? thats just silly.
Stick with civic/integra parts.

A couple solutions for you are:

1) find a pair of 94-01 integra 32mm outer joints and have an axle rebuilding place swap the 36mm outter joints with these, then you will be 100% compatible with your EK civic knuckle assembly.

2) locate a pair of 98+ JDM ITR knuckle assemblies and swap these onto your EK civic (bolts right on).

3) sell/trade away the 98+ JDM spec ITR axles you have for that of any 94-01 US integra axles, or 99-00 Civic Si, or any US/JDM 92+ Civic B-series axles (all 32mm).
