Default Sub box in a 5G prelude trunk

Hi all,
I sold my 4G lude and bought a 5G lude. In the 4G I used two JL audio 12W1's in an outer measurement 31" x 14" x 16" box. Unfortunately it will not fit thru the 5G's trunk opening. I have a few options and of course the stingiest one seems to hold precedence:
1. Cut the box in half, MDF the sides, and put it in there one half at a time
2. Suck it up and make a new box.

If I go with 2 I need to figure out the measurements. Those subs need 1.5 cu.ft (yeah i know) each. Any ideas? pictures? free contributions to my cause? Thanks!

Okay - Rockford Fosgate Power 550S, I want a sealed enclosure. I'm not interested in what it hits ... they're 12W1's, they only handle 125W RMS each. The amp is overkill thus the gains are waaay low. I just want it to sound decent and be a clean install to give me time to save $$ for something that can handle more power. I do not want ported, bandpass, or isobaric. MDF will work, lexan is preferred.
