Default Non-grinding flywheel? (SPOON, TODA, Comptech, JUN, Clutchmasters, etc.)

I have a JUN flywheel that grinds with my DENSO starter. I have also heard that the SPOON flywheel will grind with a DENSO.

Who makes a good flywheel (besides stock) for a DENSO starter?

Not a single grind from my Exedy fly... I hear of Toda flywheels and how they don't clash with the starter, either. My chromoly Exedy weighed in at 8.8lbs.

Just swap your starter to B16 starters so you will have no problems at all. I think some ppl wilkl do any even trade for it.

No problems here with my Toda flywheel.

Maybe your Trang withdrawl is making your flywheel/starter grind?

Your grinding problem is because the teeth on the ring gear of your Jun flywheel are straight cut rather than bevel cut. Compare the teeth on a stock flywheel to your Jun and you will see the difference. Take a hand grinder and hit each tooth to match the bevel cut on a stock flywheel and you will fix your problem w/o costing you a penny.

Really? I was thinking the gear ratio (10-90) short in the front/long in the back was the problem.

i agree with earl.. it's quite simple to machine the teeth if you can't find someone to trade starters with you..

i use a fidanza flyweel and have 0 probs with starter grinding..

earl: have you personally tried modifying the starter teeth yourself?

how do you know how much to grind down?

Never had that pleasure myself but know people who have done it. You just need to copy the look of a stock flywheel. You only have to grind on one side of the tooth just like the stock ones have been cut. If you compare side by side, it will be easy to see how much to take off.
