engine sputters? how much for a rebuilt motor

my car turns on and sputters sounds like metal clinks hitting

i'm wondering how much would it cost for a rebuilt LS motor
am i looking from 1500-2000 and also how much is for a rebuilt GSR motor

well my car turns on and sputters and dies now so -_- any reason why this might happen
