Default New records on the Vitara's again!

We finally got our car on the dyno with a new Ebay 57trim as last years turbo finally starting smoking badly. We had excellent results. The turbo was the only change since last year. Apparently the turbo we had all last year was less efficient due the the thrust bearing problems we discovered!

<U>471whp/356tq @ 29psi on 101 octane!</U>

This was not the highest power or rpm run we made, but the dyno crashed before I could save the runs and we had to get going to the track. We are actually revving it to 9100rpm.

So we headed out to the track for some T&T runs with the tighter ratio tranny w/LSD that we never got a clean run with last year.

Pretty amazing for an ultra low budget D16Y8, huh? It actually leaned out/ran low on gas again at the top of 4th and fell on it's face just past the 1000' mark on the 10.4 pass (thus the lower trapspeed)!

According to the weight vs. trapspeeds, the car is actually making about 485whp. I believe this is also a record for power and speed on a crappy stock port Y8 head. And the vitaras have more than proven their worth!!!

Holy ****! That ZC trans made what, and 8mph difference in trap speed over last year? You only made 20whp over what the car was making last year.

10.4 is awesome, now I need to get my car on the dyno.

That's a good amount of power for both the Vitaras and the Ebay 57 trim; however, i dont see your turbo lasting too incredibly long at 29psi

Man thats amazing!! What turbo had the thrust bearing issue as my precision gt32-51 had the same issue after about 7 thousand miles at only 10lbs! the shop that doese my work thinks it might have been bov related and relocated the vacum line as the bov was slow to open.. what do you think?

We do have the runs on video but it's on a mini-dvd. I currently can't transfer the video to a computer to get it up on the net, I may possibly be able to get vids up in a few days.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by EARLdaSQUIRREL &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">thats absolutely sick for a D series... i cant believe you are revving that motor that high </TD></TR></TABLE>

This is like 2+ years of abuse now on all the stock original from the factory oil pump and bearings!

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by SovXietday &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Holy ****! That ZC trans made what, and 8mph difference in trap speed over last year? You only made 20whp over what the car was making last year.

Hard to say. 30whp more this year according to the charts, but like I said we made more power than the dyno graph that I showed as I lost the other graphs.
And this is on a different dyno. I believe that the majority of the trapspeed increase is from the power gained, not the trans.

Just to clarify for others, it's a Y8 tranny with a ZC 1.346 3rd and a VX 1.066 3rd as 4th.

Thanks Parker. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's not possible to build a civic that'll run like this for less money than is in this build, period.

And the dyno is working out great!

Stock port Y8 head.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by da_dude &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Very impressive. It won't be long until somebody get into the 500Hp with the vitara piston.</TD></TR></TABLE>

I'd like to put this on a Dynojet, as believe there's a good chance it'll pull a 500whp chart on a Dynojet if that's what people want to see!
