Default Rotor Off?

Ok so I was bored today and decided to take apart the distributor. (Never done it before so I thought I'd see) Well I didn't get very far. I can't get the rotor off. I searched and saw people talking about screws and some talking about bashing it with a hammer. Please what’s the real story on getting that little bastard off? (Safely)

What is the screw to the rotor stipped? If so U'll probly have to use an EZ out. It's a little reversed threaded punch u pound into the screw after u've drilled it out and it'l take it out for ya.

I dont see any screw on the end of the rotor. Just a tiny threaded hole thats off center. i really just don't want to break anything.

Remove the screw (or don't if you don't have one) and I have always had luck tapping the rotor towards the engine to break it loose, then pull it off.

I had a problem where my screw kept backing its way out of the hole and ending up behind the plastic cover. The same thing probably happened to you, just remove the rotor any way you can and the pull the plastic cover off. The screw should in the bottom of the dizzy. After so long the lock washer on the screw flattens out and allows the screw to back out from vibrations. Either find a new lock washer or go buy some medium strength "service removable" thread locker and your problem should be fixed.

PS- I ended up using a big flathead screwdriver between the shaft and the rotor, I just stuck it in and spun the screwdriver sideways pushing the rotor off. I also ended up giving up once and since I was replacing the rotor anyway just broke all the plastic off then pulled the metal ring off with pliers.
