Default new cams

I was thinking of getting new cams for my b18b, its my everyday driver so i dont want anything to radical, i just want something that i have a good amount of power with out having to modify anything in the head. Or going to be having further complications down the road.

Any suggestions?

Currently i am running:
AEM short ram intake
DC Sports 4-2-1 Two piece headers
Greddy Ti-c Exhuast w/ High flow cat.

I think crower 402's works with the stock valve train so that would be my suggestion.

Bigger cams as in Skunk 2 Pro 2's? Or Crower 402's?

Crower 402's, you should be okay with your stock valvetrain.

Anything bigger and you'll need aftermarket dual valve springs, and retainers minimally. It's preferred to have aftermarket valves, and a good port job will net you some serious gains.

Cams just dropped in arent going to get you anywhere power wise. They need to be tuned for your setup on a dyno. If you get some of the bigger cams you will need to start replacing stuff in the bottom end like higher compression pistons etc. If you get milder cams you are going to drop them in and not notice much of a gian if any at all. All motor isnt cheap, it takes lots of money and mods to produce decent power.

If you would have taken a few seconds to actually have read his original post, He CLEARLY stated that he has a "b18b", and not a Vtec engine and/or head. Also WHY would it be preferred to have aftermarket valves ? Every aftermarket camshaft manufacturer state that they recommend going with stronger valvesprings and retainers to reduce valve float. There would be no gain by replacing valves, at least nothing that would be worth the money.

And just so you know, skunk2 does not make LS/B20 camshafts. PLEASE do not talk or reply if you have not AT LEAST read the original post and have valued information to provide.

..As for the Op, When I had my LS, I used crower 403(stage 2) cams with the crower dual valve springs and stock retainers and they made a bit of power through out the entire rev range. The idle was very stock, A little bumpy like a minature muscle car. I definately felt an increase in torque in the mid and high end. I was never tuned though, and could have made much more gains from tuning the cams with a standalone(crome, hondata).

What I recommend to you if you really want to make a BIG difference in acceleration for the around the same amount of money, is to replace your LS tranny with a GSR tranny or B16 tranny. You will thank me after you do this. You will feel more of a difference from simply replacing your LS tranny with a GSR tranny than intake, headers, exhaust and NON-vtec cams will do. Trust me. Been there done it.
