thanks guys. I took an engine building course at a local community college and did most of the work there. If you dissasemble everything yourself and have a shop do all the machine work it shouldnt cost that much. So far I spent
-srp pistons $500
-Bearings $40
-Arp studs $130
-Super Tech Valves and seals $240
-KMS Springs $175
-Felpro Head and Block gasket kit $240
-B18a long block with scrathched cylinder $200
Total $1525

I sand blasted the block thats why its so clean haha. I used an air gun and sat over the block with it for a good 15 min until all the sand came out and then some. Anyone every try this?? I ve had mixed responses from people some say its good others say that there will still be some sand left that kill the engine.

Some head pics, I couldnt install the springs today cause I didnt realize the KMS springs are smaller in diameter and will not work with the stock seats and retainers wooops.

The valves

Nice and clean, only .002 were shaved off of the head and it shines like a ****.

If anyone is going to get a valve job done make sure you lap the valves in before putting the cams in and all that. If you dont then the valves will never seal properly.
Il post up more **** as I get it done. Woot woot

you should have soda blasted it
you cant hot tank it cause the chemicals in the hot tank will eat up your aluminum...unless there are some special hot tanks for aluminum
yeah ive heard with the pressure from the oil once you run it the sand thats trapped in the small little places will begin its journey

No I dont think there are any type of hot tanks for aluminum you are right. hmm well I guess im just gonna have to hope that the engine holds up and that there isnt much if any sand still trapped. Ya you apply the compound then work it in until you can see a ring on the valve seat thats been worn in.
