Default LS crank... FTL?!

Hey guys,so here's my question. I have heard from a lot of people that the rod ratio of the LS crank kinda sucks, and that you should only rev to about 8500... is this true?

I ask because of course a buddy was like "oh yea, i know so and so revs his to 9500 all the time without any problems"

but of course he has no proof of this.

either way. it got me thinking, so i figured it would be a good idea to ask you guys. whats the deal?

my setup is B16 head w CTR cams and ITR valvetrain, bottom end is a LS block (duh ) with wiseco 11.5s and eagle rods

TIA!

What's the point in revving past 8.5K when you're not going to make power past that?

I rev to 8600 regularly (about the same as your setup). My friend, when he had his lsvtec, reved his to 9500 all the time with no problems (he had high compression and big cams).

Like no money man said, you cant make power up there with your set up, no need to go there.

When you get your car dyno tuned you'll know if you need to rev past 8200. Are you running main studs/girdle? Have your block balanced and you'll sleep better

Yup, Im running LS crank and rods in my gsr block with arp rod bolts, gsr main girdle, and fully balanced rotating assembly. Rev to 8600 RPM daily, over 16k miles on the build, CR is 220 +/- 5 PSI and engine runs as smooth as when it was stock.

This has been discussed 1,000 times. Why do people keep creating these threads? Search for rod ratio. There was a good thread about a month or two ago created by Master of the Universe.
