Default Which cams is best?

I'm purchasing a Rsx-S soon and would like to do minor upgrades like cams, HIE and etc. I owned a dc2 with ctr cams before and i loved when the vtec engaged (how loud it was) and i would like to do the same for the RSX-S

Which cams is best for the rsx-s motor without upgrading valvetrains? Also, how do you differentiate the stock rsx cams from rsx type r cams? I know the CTR has two rings on the dizzy side, is this the same with the cams? Thanks

just so you know the k-series Vtec transition is alot smoother and not as loud as the b-series. also if you get an 05-06 rsx-s they have type r cams in them already, personally i would tell you to keep the stock cams in there and just go with bolt ons and K-pro for know. i ran a 13.6 in my rsx with just bolt ons and i know theres some room for improvement on my runs.

Im not really into speed as of now, i had a s2000 and turbo gsr in the past as well as a few sport like. I had ctr cams in my gsr and i love the vtec loudness. Is there cams out there that can produce loudness or like rick said the transition is smooth and its not as loud. Sorry K series is unknown to me as of now

Seriously? You want to install cams to make the vtec x-over louder? I haven't seen that one in a while.

Just do as tyte-s says and buy a short ram intake if all your after is sound-bling.

And are you sure the vtec loudness in your GSR wasn't the dual-stage intake manifold opening up?

i tried searching but came up with nothing. Also, how do you differentiate the stock rsx cams from rsx type r cams? I know the CTR has two rings on the dizzy side, is this the same with the k series cams? Thanks

No it wasn't the dual stage opening up. I had a blox after market IM and my vtec engaged at 5400rpm. Everyone has different preferences, I had a turbo gsr, s2000 and a few bikes in the past so speed is not something that im not chasing after. i just want a clean DD along with bolt ons and a nice set of cams where it gives me some potential gain in Hp but most of all i love the vtec sound so that is my thing. I appreciate the responses but please keep it positive. Thanks

just keep the stock cams and go with an ARC super induction box i hear its the loudest intake you can buy and its some engine bay bling.
remember this isn't a B-series its a K and things are a little different now that you moving on up

...nevermind that a properly built VTEC motor should have a smooth transition and not a huge power spike when the x-over occurs.

Why don't you just get a short-ram intake and a vtec controller and set the vtec point artificially high. That'll give you the sound you want.

You've already been answered...the cheap solution is a short-ram intake.

Otherwise you're spending a lot of money just to get a 'vtec' sound somewhat like a B-series had.

It's like trying to make a 4-cylinder car sound like a V8 with just a simple muffler change--it isn't going to happen--if ever.
