do it the way theives do, driver side fender liner, cut it, grab the hood cable and work from there. cut the casing off the cable but dont cut into the cable itself if you can. you have to replace the entire thing anyway, so go for it.

Solid Idea. Even the driver liner for a 94 cav can probably be found anywhere at a junk yard for like 5 bucks. Thanks man. to you. (althought if this was the s2k, i don't think i would be cutting the fender liner)
