It takes several drive cycles and the right conditons for your check gas cap light to off. We tell our customers it may take a couple weeks for it to turn off, depending on the conditions. Just be patient. You can go to the dealer and they can manually clear it if it really bothers you that much.

i think you can also get that warning cleared yourself if you have one of those little computers that you hook up to the comp on the car...i had a dodge truck with the check engine light on and there was nothing wrong with truck at all so i used that little computer and cleared it myself. i dont know dont if that helps, but just a suggestion

check to be sure there isn't any damage to the seal of the cap. The message is from the fule system not pressuriziong properly. If there is damage, have your warranty take care of it.

My light came on, too.

I guess I didn't tighten it all the way when I put in some gas.... But I tightened it and the light went off after a few minutes....

I'm sure yours is probably off by now. If not, have the dealer check it...

This JUST happened to me this week. It was confusing, because I always re-secure the cap properly.

The C/L for the fuel cap came on when I turned the car on. So I got out and checked it. The cap was on tight. I gave it a few twists just to make sure. Got back in the car and turned it back on. SAME THING. So I got out and took the cap totally OFF and then twisted it back on. That made it go away. What weird crap.

Yeah I've had the same problem. It was due to me not putting the cap on tight enough. I even went to autozone to see what code i was throwing. They told me the samething. After about 2 days it went away.
