Ok, so I picked up a RHD JDM b16a OBD2 engine harness yesterday. I have a USDM 99 B16a2 swap. Will this work for my car as opposed to the USDM 99-00 Si engine harness? If not, what can I do to make it work??

I've searched for like 4 hours now all over the net and haven't had any luck.....I'm now frustrated and would just like to hear some helpful answers.....I'm hoping I didn't waste my money picking up this harness

 

What kind of car and what ECU are you using?

I just finished swapping a JDM ITR motor and the ECU (OBD2a) into my 96 USDM Civic Hatch (OBD2a). I researched engine harnesses until my eyes bled (one piece, two piece, jdm, usdm, OBD2a, OBD2b, blah, blah, blah)... In the end I just used the harness that was already on my car and made a couple mods to it so all the plugs were correct (added a couple that weren't there and extended a couple that didnt reach). Started my car last month, it idles great and no CEL's. The most helpful information I got was from Katman on ff-squad.com tho... The technical write-ups are magic.

Ok, well the ECU I have and could use are the 99-00 SI P2T ecu or I could use the P28 ecu with the OBd2b to OBD1 jumper harness.......which one would work best?

As for the car it's a 1997 Civic EX (EJ8) currently with a 00 D16y7 motor in it


Please Help!! I'm trying to hurry and finish the swap

 

Anybody else have any input?

If your Y7 is running OBD2b then just take the harness off that, attach it to the B16 to make sure the plugs all reach (you wont need to modify much if anything at all), then run the P2T ECU. If you do it that way, your engine, your engine harness, and your ECU will all be OBD2b, and it will be pretty much plug and play. Is your Y7 OBD2b?

 

U can never use a RHD engine harness for a LHD vehicle. they are just too difference in where the battery sits and where the underhood fuses are. I mean you can use a RHD harness but then you would have to extended the wires and etc etc.. just use the usdm b16a2 harness from your si.. it should work perfect

x2..u would have to extend the main plugs from the shock tower from the pass side to ur driver side shock tower to make it work..use ur stock harness and modify that to fit

 

Just use your stock harness, since its an ex harness its already wired for vtec. The only thing you may need to add is 1 wire for knock since I believe only the auto ex's have a knock sensor. Im not sure if you will even need to extend any wires. The p2t will look for knock so add it, and if you run a chipped p28 or p30 you wont be able to pass emissions since the codereader wont read obd1. So unfortunately that RHD harness wont be any good for a LHD car.
