Ok. So I'm coming out of Reign of Fire (those dragons rule btw) at about 9:30 in Encinitas, CA (right outside San Diego). My fiance and my fantastically wealthy uncle are flanking me as I walk across the parking lot to the convertable, shooting the **** about how cool the graphics were and the shittiest scenes in the movie. I spy a dropped EG with charcoal grey paint, 16 inch crome rims with blue centercaps, clears and...get this...a 12 point rollcage!!!

I decide to scope this bad boy out, with my uncle giving me a, "that little civic looks pretty sweet". I'm checkin it out, lookin inside (full interior, manual tranny, monstertach with shiftlight) and trying to figure out if there's boost to be found. I hear a "beep beep" and the lights flash. I turn to find two icy hot stunnaz with their non-attractive ladies strutting towards us.

"Sup man, what engine you have in there?" I ask
"Built LS" this 4.5ft tall (no ****) dude tells me
"Built turbo or NA?"
"Allmotor"
"What's done to her?"
"Uhhhh..." he thinks for a second before unleashing the fury of his rollcage-needing powerplant, "Stock GSR pistons, shot-peened rods and a knife-edged crank...stuff like that."
"LS VTEC or just regular?"
"Um...it's an LS...they don't have VeeTECH" he gives me a no **** dizawg look
"I know. I was wondering if..." he cuts me off
"It's punched out a little and it's got wicked high compression...I'm thinkin around 10.4"
"Cool," I'm on the verge of biting my tongue in half, "So what's your best time?"
"Uh, man, I just got this thing in there like, i dunno, two, three months ago...haven't taken it to the track yet." note to self...he hasn't taken it to Palomar Airport Rd's strip yet and he lives here...he thinks stock GSR compression is high...he thinks his engine is punched over when he told me it was a 1.8...I want to go home.
"Cool, man, looks good."
"Thanks."

I walk away, mumbling about retarded people with too much money and rollcages for no reason. My uncle says, "well it can be his ignorant pride and joy" I agree. We go home.

i almost choked on it when he said the thing about the compression...my friend b19civichb has JE 12.5:1 pistons in his punched out JDM GSR block with shot-peened and knife-edged crank, all polished up with eagle rods. I wanted to slap the kid for adding 100 pounds of metal to his EG for no reason whatsoever. Looked good though

 

What theatre were you at ?

 

I dont know about you, but if my brother was able to run CTR pistons in his LS, I dont see why you cant run GSR pistons in an LS.

to the other guy about the pistons. no **** the GSR pistons fit an LS block. that's not the point of my ranting. The point is he doesn't have MaD HiGh KompRESSion y0!...he's got 10.4:1 stock GSR compression. Not built. stock with another stock car's pistons

 

well at least he didnt state that he had sohc non vtec making 250hp

 

San Diego=Not the most inteligent area when it comes to imports.

Especially North County. I mean, I'm sure there are some gems buried around here, but for the most part, this place is filled with people who think washer fluid lights are the bomb diggity.

Anyway, there are some cool cats around here, just gotta look in the right places.
