Default Increasing fuel efficiency/MPG in CRX engine's

The question on everyone's mind... What can be done to increase fuel efficiency? Here is a great article on 26 things everyone can do to increase the MPG: http://www.wikihow.com/Increas...a-Car

That said, what performance enhancments can be made to increase MPG? I've read up on a few things and I wanted to bounce them off you guys.

1. FuelSaver2000: The 1st thing that caught my eye about this thing is the cheezy name. That said, I'm not an expert at this stuff so let me know what you think. Check out the link below.

2. HKS Super Mega Flow Air Intake System: Read the link below. Let me know what you think.

3. Spark Plugs: Link Below...

4. Voltage Performance Module Stage 2: read below...

5. Pulley's: I've read a few articles on pulley's. Can anyone confirm if they can improve fuel efficiency?

6. Performance chips: read below

7. Supercharger Turbonator: increases MPG by 28%???

Lets discuss

check out gassavers.org Regular maintenance, especially valve adjustments, is a good place to start.

Why do you think they are worthless? This guy sounds like he knows what he's talking about.

Dude, you just listed all of the stereotypically n00b car modifications that have been proven to be BS gimmicks. Supercharger Turbonator?.....seriously? They're gimmicks. Read a REAL info site like gassavers.org and learn from there.

Pulleys help in theory because there's less mass for the engine to move, but the gains are sooooooo minimal that it's not really worth it.

Upgrading spark plugs doesn't really do anything either unless your old ones are bad.

Performance chips are gay.

Fuel Saver???? Don't you think if all you had to do was put a stupid magnet or whatever that is on your fuel line all cars would come with one? Especially with the increasingly strict mpg regulations that are coming...

Some of you may find in interesting that i gained decent mileage from couple of engine swaps going from a sohc to a dohc.

1st one was back in 1996 when i put a dohc zc engine in favor of the stock sohc 1.6. I got roughly 60 miles more per tank. The engine made better torque and took less effort to get up to speed.

2nd swap was a F22B dohc in favor of the 2.2 sohc in my 1992 Accord 5 speed. Also gain about 60 miles per tank

All scams, even the supposed hydrogen "browns gas" conversion kits are somewhat scammy. Even though they work, they are hard to set up, and improvements are minimal without extensive tuning. Just keep your foot out of it, more effective.

spark plugs would mean that you would have a better ignition of your gas, leaving less gas to not be detonated, so it does make sense but the gains would be nothing life changing, but i can see what they mean and it cant hurt.

Keep your engine clean (seafoam works great for me)
air filter
tuned correctly, not burning rich or lean

Your engine is going to operate as well as it can, but no more. There are a few things here and there that can help, but if you engine does about 28 mph on the highway, its not going to get much better
